Aaron Klug building, MEPC Granta Park, Cambridge
Year of Completion 2008
MEPC Granta Park, one of the UK’s leading science parks, has a newly refitted research and development facility that has been occupied by MedImmune, AstraZeneca’s global biologics unit.
Design & Display structures were given the responsibility of design, manufacture and installation of three GRP conference pods, bridge and cladding, in the building's central atrium.
The suspended pods represented an engineering challenge, which required Macalloy to work closely with all parties including the architect and engineer.
Macalloy S460 M24 tie rods were supplied to suspend the pods, which were connected to specialist connection plate designed by Macalloy Technical Department.
The 100,000 sq ft development was named after, and officially opened by, Sir Aaron Klug, winner of Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1982.
