This award winning building has a roof structure similar to the structure of a suspension bridge, which is uncommon (in arena design) anywhere in the world. The roof's bearing structure is only 45cm high, over a span of 110m and is suspended with Macalloy 460 M36 tendons from the upper side of the roof, which can't be seen from the interior.
With a capacity for 16,000 spectators, the new Arena Zagreb hosted the 2009 World Handball Championship.
This new arena also recently claimed top honour for structural design, at this year's world architecture festival.
