Atrio Shopping Centre, Villach
Anno di completazione 2007
Austria's first themed shopping centre, was designed to reconnect the regions of Carinthia, the Friaul and Slovenia all of which are kept apart by borders.
The architect responds to this theme of “Borders and the Crossing of Borders” in many ways. An almost square and glazed atrium measuring 50m x 60m has been created which establishes a new urban setting for the city of Villach, encouraging all activities of a traditional market place including shopping, eating, playing, communicating and just hanging around.
Supplied with M30, M36, M56 and M64 Macalloy 460 tie rods, a special bent turnbuckle was designed to accommodate the curvature of the tendon.
