Cork Airport
Anno di completazione 2006
Cork Airport is Irelands first 21st century terminal and represents one of the three international airports in Ireland.
Re-built at a cost of 140 million Euros, the new airport has doubled in size and handles approximately three million passengers per annum. Along with the construction of the terminal, roads had to be re-aligned, a new multi-story car park constructed and new offices provided.
To minimise the depth of the glulam section a composite timber/steel 'bow string' truss was adopted using Macalloy 460 in M76 diameter, this had to be bent to the profile of the truss. Resulting in the timber been used in compression and the steel in tension.
