Fabian Way Footbridge, Swansea

Year of Completion 2007

by Paul Dale last modified Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Replacing the old Siding Bridge, the new bridge will provide a vital link between the park and ride site at Fabian Way and the newly constructed bus lane, which runs into Swansea city centre.

The tapering steel mast is inclined forward from two splayed sets of twisted backstays giving the bridge a graceful yet striking appearance. The deck consists of 2m deep central beam suspended from eight 56mm fully locked coil cables, a vehicle deck is on one side, with a combined pedestrian and cycle way on the other. Additional Macalloy 1030 was also supplied as anchors.
