Macalloy Tie Bars Used to Brace Canopy Roof Structure; Alicante Airport, Spain



Macalloy Tension Rods / Tie Bars were used extensively within this innovative roof structure in Terminal 3 of Alicante Airport in Spain. The products supplied by Macalloy were integral to the airport design.

Alicante airports terminal 3 building has a large span membrane roof structure, made up of 40 domes, each one supported by a lightweight steel frame roof. The steel frame is braced using small diameter Macalloy tension rods.

The steel frame is arched, with the arch been tensioned by twin Macalloy tie bars.

The Terminal 3 building was built to help the airport deal with increased tourism around the Costa Blanca.

VTB Arena, Moscow Russia

Work is well under way at the VTB Arena - also known as Dynamo Central Stadium. Macalloy have provided galvanised 520 Grade Tension Rods in M16, M85 and M100. Work is expected to be completed later on this year, ready to host FIFA 2018 World Cup. Macalloy is also supplying Tension Rods to 4 other Russian Stadiums/Arena's - again these venues will be hosting the 2018 World Cup.
