Temple Bar Rebuild, London
Year of Completion 2004
The Christopher Wren designed temple bar monument was purchased by the borough of London, and re-built in the capital next to St Pauls Cathedral.
During the re-construction 2no. 32 dia Stainless Steel Macalloy post-tensioning bars were installed across each side of the monument to stop the main arch from collapsing. Load was applied by Macalloy personnel, over a period of 2 months, in increments to balance the loads induced to the arch during construction. Once full load had been applied a special St Paul’s grout mix was pumped in the bar ducts.
