In order to minimise the thickness of the bridge deck and maintain the open character of the harbour, the swing span was designed as a cable-stayed structure. The 52 meter long cable-stayed bridge rests on a hemispherical concrete pivot pier, which gives the impression of floating on the water.
Macalloy M76 tension rods are connected to the twin masts and act as deck supports.
